Marathon Season 2 is live now: Season 2 gameplay trailer

Season 2 of Marathon, available to all players, is live now and brings the Night Marsh zone, the new Sentinel Runner shell, new weapons, a new system to customise Runner shell stats, faster faction progression, several quality-of-life updates based on player feedback, and more.

Some of the notable updates to Marathon in Season 2 include:

Dire Marsh (Night), a darker version of Dire Marsh
- New mechanics, new combatants, and environmental challenges that push Marathon into survival-horror territory
- New equipment designed for surviving the dark: flashlights, Darksight (night vision) scopes, signal flares, and more
- A new area in the upper rooms of Complex
- New mysteries, combatants, and loot await!
Sentinel Runner shell, a defensive shell built to lock down positions and protect teammates
- Sentinel’s kit includes an automated laser platform that shoots down incoming grenades and missiles while improving weapon handling for your nearby crew, a proximity mine that snares rushing enemies, and a short-range motion tracker that helps spot nearby movement, among other abilities
The Cradle, a new way to improve Runner shell stats without being limited by faction progression
- Upgrades are shared across all Runner shells, can be reconfigured at any time with no penalty, and unlock additional perks at key thresholds, giving players more control over how they build and adapt throughout the season

Season 2 also introduces Sponsored Survival, a new experimental mode running June 3-10 (AEST). In this asymmetric mode, a single crew infils with Sponsored Kits into the new Dire Marsh (Night) zone first to explore and loot while facing UESC and new enemies that lurk in the shadows, before backfilled Rooks enter to compete for the single final exfil.

Additionally, Marathon’s first Open Play Week, which runs June 3-10 (AEST) on PlayStation 5, Steam, and XBOX Series X|S* is live now. During this week, the full game is playable and any progress made will carry over to Season 2 when purchased.
