Madman Anime Festival 2018 – Brisbane Australian Premiere Announcement

Madman is absolutely thrilled to announce that the Australian premiere of Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms will take place at Madman Anime Festival Brisbane on June 2nd, 2018.

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms is the stunning directorial debut from acclaimed screenwriter Mari Okada, who is best known for writing Anohana and The Anthem of the Heart.

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles. Anyone can buy tickets to the screening, not just Madman Anime Festival attendees. Tickets to the premiere are $15 and available to purchase on the Madman Anime Festival website now.

The highly-anticipated film will then be coming soon to cinemas across Australia and New Zealand. Keep your eyes on the website as we’ll be announcing more details (including cinema locations) soon.

Synopsis: The people of Iolph have a lifespan of hundreds of years, maintaining their teenage appearances indefinitely, but when the peace of this town is shattered by those who want the secret to their longevity, a young girl named Maquia is forced to escape. Wandering the land alone, she finds an orphaned baby. Choosing to raise him, as the boy grows older the difference in their lifespans is thrown into ever-sharper relief.
