IXI Unveils Breakthrough Smart Glasses Prototype

IXI, the company behind the world’s first autofocus glasses, has hit a major milestone in smart eyewear design. Their latest prototype frame weighs just 22 grams (without lenses) and packs in all the embedded electronics — a huge leap forward in comfort and wearability compared to the bulky, awkward designs that dominate the market today.

Comfort Meets Cutting‑Edge Tech

Since 2021, IXI has been running an intensive research program to crack the code on frame ergonomics. The most recent phase included testing in London and Finland, with over 360 participants aged 20 to 70. A follow‑up study across the UK, France, Sweden, and Germany confirmed what many glasses wearers already know: traditional eyewear often forces compromises that lead to eye strain, neck pain, and poor posture.

IXI’s adaptive eyewear aims to eliminate those compromises, setting a new benchmark for comfort and fit in smart glasses.

“The goal was never just to make something lighter — it was to make wearing glasses feel so effortless that you forget you’re even wearing them,” said Timo Yliluoma, Chief Design Officer at IXI.

True‑Fit Frame Architecture

The new prototype introduces a true‑fit frame system with precision adjustments at the temples and nose piece, plus adjustable pantoscopic tilt — ensuring the lenses align naturally with the wearer’s eyes. Importantly, these prototypes are already being produced using mass‑production tooling, proving that IXI’s innovation is ready for scale.

This breakthrough tackles one of the biggest barriers in smart eyewear: integrating advanced electronics without sacrificing comfort, fit, or style.

Redefining How We Choose Glasses

IXI’s approach doesn’t just change how smart glasses feel — it changes how people buy them. Traditionally, fit dictated style: you’d pick from what worked for your face shape. IXI flips that model, letting people choose the frame they want with confidence that the right fit will follow.

“This isn’t just a design breakthrough, it’s a fundamental shift for the eyewear industry,” said Niko Eiden, CEO and Co‑Founder of IXI. “For the first time, people can expect everything to fit — not just settle for what does.”
