iGulu Smart Home Brewer Review … Mix, Brew & Pour! Andrew Bistak
Score

Summary: The iGulu Smart Home Brewer is a fun experience but it does come at a cost but hey... as long as it produces tasty beer that you make, it's probably worth the admission price then.

Fun times!

Undoubtedly we live in a “smart age” and as a reviewer I love it when a company thinks outside the square and who would have thought that beer‑making and smart technology would “ferment” so well. So if you enjoy brewing your own beer and are looking at taking it to the next level safely then the iGulu F1 Smart All‑in‑One Home Brewer might be your perfect digital brewery and smart bar‑bot. With that said, the iGulu F1 Smart All‑in‑One Home Brewer is available in Australia from $999 AUD (September 2025) from stores such as JB Hi‑Fi and this kit comes with almost (*) everything you need to start making homemade beers that brew, ferment, carbonate and dispense from the same unit.

It even includes a “Master Mode,” a feature designed for advanced brewers who want complete creative control. In Master Mode you can override the automated RFID settings and manually adjust temperature, pressure and fermentation time to experiment with your own recipes or tweak existing ones. This makes it ideal for anyone who wants to push beyond the standard kits and craft truly unique beers, ciders or kombucha.

However for this newbie brewmaster, each kit that you purchase has an RFID tag. This tag is scanned by the F1 and it reads the recipe such as the Bavarian Hefeweizen Beer or English Porter Beer in order for this smart machine to do its brewing magic. Although there is some physical input required, it is an automated process that uses intelligent temperature and pressure controls for consistent high‑quality results. With a plethora of brew kits available—from beer to cider and even kombucha—there’s definitely a taste for you and more importantly quite a few more to experiment with.

From a tech perspective, the system uses a Dual Pneumatic Gas Engine for smoother pours and better head retention giving you a true bar‑quality finish. Safety is also a key component and the iGulu comes with PID Temperature Control plus automated Pressure Management with a safety release including CO₂ Freshness Tech that maintains carbonation for up to 30 days. Cleaning is also eco‑conscious and tool‑free making it quick and easy to maintain between batches.

So how many litres can the iGulu F1 Smart All‑in‑One Home Brewer make? It’s 3.8 litres per batch or 1 gallon.

Box Contents

  • iGulu F1 Brewer
  • Tap handle & rubber drip mat
  • Fermentation keg & dispensing tube
  • AT dispensing coupler
  • Power adapter
  • Manuals

The dimensions of the machine measure 34.3 × 36.8 × 52.1 cm with a weight of 13.6 kg and iGulu recommends that you ensure the product is at least 10 cm away from walls or other obstructions. The only additional purchase you need for the iGulu F1 Home Brewer is one of the kits that retail from $19.95 AUD (September) which can be purchased directly from iGulu’s website with local shipping from their AU warehouse.

Once you have the instructions and potentially watched a few YouTube tutorials like we did (this was a bonding review with my father… hey Dad!) it’s time to start your brewing adventure. Here is our step‑by‑step guide below. However before you start you first need to install the iGulu app on your smartphone which includes creating an account and then registering the machine to you.

When the app is installed on your phone, it’s time to start the brewing phase which is…

Prep & Sanitise

  • Clean and sanitise the keg, tubes and any accessories to avoid contamination that may affect taste

Add Ingredients

  • As per kit guidelines, pour filtered water into the keg, add your malt extract, hops and yeast

Load & Start Brewing

  • Place the sealed keg into the machine, connect the lines and attach the RFID tag to the machine. The F1 will then read it in order to implement the correct recipe. This also controls the temperature, pressure and timing automatically.

The iGulu F1 will inform you how long the fermentation phase lasts which varies for each kit. Some recipes can be ready in as little as 9 days which is a big plus for impatient brewers. You can monitor the brewing via the touchscreen display on the iGulu or via the companion app which is super cool.

Speaking of cool, the machine will chill the beer and it stays fresh and carbonated for up to 30 days. Just like your own bar, the handle on the iGulu allows you to pour directly from the machine! iGulu also promotes the F1 as part of its “3H Lifestyle” which is Homemade, Happiness & Healthy tying into its focus on fresh preservative‑free drinks. Once it has brewed your beer it will display an icy‑cold temperature which means it’s ready for drinking!

And our first drink? Cheers! It was actually quite tasty with a slight sweetness and we both loved that the unit chills the beer.

(*) Although it does create a level of carbonation, a separate CO2 cylinder is needed to take your beer to the next level that thankfully is SodaStream compatible which is $36 per bottle. This does increase the cost but at the end of the day, it’s part of the journey… not the journey to your local liquor store!

Final Thoughts?

The iGulu F1 Smart All‑in‑One Home Brewer is more than just a clever kitchen gadget; it’s a genuine bridge between traditional home‑brewing craftsmanship and the convenience of modern smart tech. With its automated precision, versatile recipe options and the freedom of Master Mode for those who like to experiment it caters to both beginners and seasoned brewers.

Add in its sleek design, easy maintenance and the ability to pour pub‑quality drinks straight from your countertop and you’ve got a machine that can turn any home into a personal microbrewery. Whether you’re chasing the perfect pale ale, a crisp cider or a refreshing kombucha the F1 makes the process approachable, consistent and fun — all while delivering results that taste as good as they look but it does come at a cost.

Fun times indeed!
