FREE UPDATE AND PAID EXPANSION FOR ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS OUT NOW

A line-up of new additions has arrived to enrich players’ island life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch, and everyone is invited to explore the new possibilities.

A free update*, available today to all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, will bring new additions and options to the game. These include characters from the Animal Crossing series, such as Brewster, who will open his café The Roost on the second floor of the museum, and the sea shanty-singing Kapp’n, who will take players to different islands with his boat. There will also be newly opened shops in the plaza on Harv’s Island, including Katrina’s fortune-telling shop.

With this new update players will be able to enjoy abilities such as cooking and growing vegetables, along with a host of other customisations and features. Gyroids can now be dug up from the ground, and as Resident Representative, players can even establish ordinances that reduce the rate at which weeds grow or make all the residents get up early in the morning. There have never been more options to help adjust the island to fit one’s lifestyle, and all of these updates will be available free of charge.

In addition to this free update, today can be the auspicious beginning of a new in-game vocation as a vacation home designer with Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise. In this paid DLC**, players join Lottie and the Paradise Planning team as they travel to a chain of charming islands in an archipelago. There, they can design the dream vacation homes of their clients, decorate island facilities – like a school and a restaurant – and discover new ways to create and personalise.

Techniques and items players have obtained through work on the Paradise Planning team can even be used on one’s home island. With clients eager to enjoy players’ design inspirations, including main island residents, the chance to create dream vacation homes offers new experiences to discover.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise can be purchased beginning today for a one-time fee of AU$37.50 / NZ$41.25 in Nintendo eShop, or enjoyed as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership plan for no additional cost. For more details regarding both the free Version 2.0 update and Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, please check out the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct – 16/10/2021 (Nintendo Switch).

Also available on 5th November, new Animal Crossing Series 5 amiibo cards will launch at select retailers and via the My Nintendo Store, bringing an additional variety of characters to the amiibo cards line-up. Individual amiibo card packs are available for purchase separately and will include three cards in each pack. Players will be able to use these vibrantly designed amiibo cards in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Series 5 will encompass a selection of 48 characters total, including new characters and characters never before seen in amiibo card form.

The free Version 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the paid DLC, Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise are both launching today. Additionally, the Animal Crossing Series 5 amiibo cards also launch separately at select retailers today.
