Discover the myth of Cthulhu in The Sinking City

Sydney, Australia, 21st February 2018, — Bigben and Frogwares studio are delighted to share a new developer diary that reveals how the team appropriated the world of writer H.P. Lovecraft and transposed it in The Sinking City.

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”

  1. P. Lovecraft

H.P Lovecraft is an American writer known worldwide for his fantastic stories centred around the myth of the Great Old Ones, powerful and evil, semi-divine creatures, of which Cthulhu is the most emblematic representative. Men are insignificant grains of dust in a universe subject to the will of these cyclopean entities and their minions who are constantly reasserting their place on Earth. This fictional universe has inspired many works, films, novels and games, and is an ideal setting for an adventure and investigation video game set in an open world.

The Sinking City interprets and develops the themes that Lovecraft explored: the fear of monsters and the unknown, the search for occult truths and madness. In the game, players step into the shoes of a private detective investigating the disappearance of an expedition to the imaginary town of Oakmont, Massachusetts. Oakmont is a city experiencing unprecedented flooding due to supernatural forces, leaving a large portion of the city submerged. Secret societies, dangers, intrigues and monstrous creatures will stand in your way …

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die.”

The Sinking City is currently in production and will be available for PC and consoles.
