CRAIG McLACHLIN – BIOGRAPHY
Having entertained audiences the world over for almost 40 years, Craig McLachlan is one of Australia’s most beloved & versatile performers. His professional journey truly kicked off when, as a young 21 year old he secured the role of ‘Henry Ramsay’ in Reg Grundy’s nightly ‘hit’ TV drama ‘Neighbours’. A love affair was ignited with audiences on both sides of the equator, seeing the young actor nominated & ultimately collecting a number of television awards over several years (Logies) in his home country, including the prestigious Gold Logie Award.
As a ‘screen actor’ Craig has starred in over 40 television & film projects. From drama to comedy, honing his skills alongside some of the worlds greats… Jeanne Moreau, Sir Ian Richardson, Omar Sharif, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Jarratt…
Whether tackling lead roles in emotionally complex ‘real life’ stories like ‘Heroes Mountain’ (the exceptionally moving story of Stuart Diver & the Thredbo disaster) or playing the late Michael Chamberlain in the gripping mini-series ‘Through My Eyes’ (based on the book of the same name by Lindy Chamberlain- Chreichton), or creating wonderful characters like Dr Lucien Blake, the mystery solving medico at the heart of the internationally acclaimed ‘The Doctor Blake Mysteries’, Craig approaches every role with an almost otherworldly energy & enthusiasm. Indeed, only a few years ago he was awarded the Silver Medal at the prestigious New York Television Awards for ‘Best Actor in a Drama Series’ for his work on The Doctor Blake Mysteries.
And we haven’t even touched on his successful theatre career, which includes a record-breaking run on London’s West End and a Helpmann Award in Australia for Best Actor in a musical! As for the recording career that resulted in numerous gold, silver & platinum records being awarded along with an Aria award….. we’ll save that for another time.
