Cairn On the Trail – Deep Water launches August 13

The Game Bakers announced today that On the Trail: Deep Water, a free DLC for the critically acclaimed survival climber Cairn will release on August 13th, 2026.

Cairn launched earlier this year to widespread acclaim. Its intense climbing simulation and deeply human story about overcoming impossible odds have made it an instant favorite with players and critics alike. The game sold over half a million copies in 2 months making it one of the landmark indie games of 2026 so far.

On the Trail – Deep Water is the first of a series of free DLC that send Cairn climbers to new climbing locations as they follow the trail of a legendary climber. The DLC brings 3 new climbing spots with fresh climbing problems, and introduces water soloing: players scale rock faces above open water. Marco becomes a playable climber, with his distinct climbing style that offers a renewed challenge.

Launching alongside the DLC, the Free Roam mode lets players return to Kami as Aava or Marco to explore every path the mountain has to offer.
