Bluey: Mum School book review
Summary: Another excellent Bluey adaptation in board book form, perfect for early learning.

Early learning!
Bluey: Mum School, written of course by Bluey, is a story based on the extraordinary ABC KIDS show. In a situation familiar for most weary parents and carers, it’s bath time and Bluey wants to keep playing ‘Mum School’.
As usual the writing is on point, managing to present Bluey’s parents as simultaneously relatable and aspirational. Fruit Bat, another Bluey board book, has been a regular bedtime book for weeks now – so I’m grateful that Campbell has taken to Mum School, I really needed the break (although I’m not sure how many more times I can count the balloons in Mum School).
My kids’ choices are often opaque in how specific and unpredictable they can be when first exposed to something novel. We are lucky enough to get away without a lot of TV too (we don’t even have it hooked up) – which made it all the more remarkable to me that Campbell has always gravitated towards Bluey generally.
I was relieved to see Campbell consistently wanting to read Mum School each night – even if he was more focused on Dad chasing Bingo and “Was that on purpose?” rather than the connection and empathy Bluey and Mum were exploring. But we’re aiming for baby steps, and I’m glad for another fun and engaging choice in Bluey: Mum School.
5/5 stars.
