Blizzard Entertainment and Seven West Media Partner for Live Television Broadcast of Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Sydney

screenPLAY on 7mate to broadcast Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Sydney ahead of the Richmond Tigers vs. GWS Giants AFL match on 23 July.

SYDNEY, Australia—21 July, 2017— Blizzard Entertainment today announced its partnership with Seven West Media to broadcast the first live esports event on a leading free-to-air commercial television network in Australia. 7mate’s new video game and esports platform screenPLAY will cross live to the sold out Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Sydney event at 11:30am on Sunday, 23 July, showcasing Australia’s highly anticipated match against Sweden. The broadcast will occur ahead of the Richmond Tigers vs. GWS Giants AFL match scheduled to commence at 1:10pm.

The Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Sydney will feature some of the world’s top Overwatch players as they represent their home nations, and compete to earn one of two coveted places at the Overwatch World Cup Final to be held at BlizzCon (www.blizzcon.com) in Anaheim, California this November. Overwatch is a team-based six-vs-six multiplayer game where players battle over objectives, and use strategy to take down their opponents and achieve victory.
