Impulse Gamer recently reviewed the Ballistix 8GB DDR by Crucial that is a clever mix of words which includes “ballistic”, meaning flying and “stix” meaning memory sticks and together, you have the Ballistix, high performance memory for gaming laptops. As gaming laptops have become more popular, Crucial have given gamers another piece of ammunition for their artillery which boasts the following;

As you can see from the above specificaitons, the Ballistix is no slouch when it comes to performance. The module boasts a lifetime warranty and XMP profiles for advanced speeds and timing which are ideal for i5 and i7 mobile processors.

The RAM also boast reduced voltage which in turn increases the battery life of your laptop and even reduces the temperature. With that said, the BLS8G3N18AES4 is a single 8GB DDR3 module that operates at speeds up to 1866 MT/s and has a CL10 latency with extended timings of 10-10-10-30.

In terms of testing, we tested the Ballistix with SiSoft Sandra Memory Bandwidth and 3DMark, two ideal tools for gamers and pc enthusiasts. The modules were set to 1866MHz with timings of 10-10-10-30-2T at 1.35v.

Compared to our competitors memory, the Ballistix showed a 2 to 5% improvement with these bechmarking programs. Another interesting element of the RAM is that it increased our boot-up speed of Windows 8 from 10 seconds to 8 seconds which is always appreciated.

The Ballistix Sport by Crucial not only delivers in performance, albeit low but it reduces the voltage that in turn minimises the temperature of your laptop which is a must have for gaming.
