Australian Speedrun Marathon Kicks Off July 15th, Supporting Game On Cancer
The Australian Speedrun Marathon (ASM2025), Australia’s largest and longest-running speedrunning event, is kicking off on Tuesday 15th July and will run through to Sunday 20th July. The flagship 5-day annual marathon of the AusSpeedruns community will be fundraising for Game On Cancer®.
Featuring some of the speedrunning community’s favourite games like Pokemon Heart Gold, Mario Kart 64, Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and The Simpsons: Hit & Run – ASM2025 will once again be held at the Adelaide Rockford (164 Hindley St, Adelaide) and tickets can be purchased either on the AusSpeedruns website or at the door for $35 with proceeds going to Game On Cancer®.
Game On Cancer® is an initiative of Cure Cancer, an Australia-based charity dedicated entirely to funding early career cancer researchers and to date has provided over 560 research grants to young scientists with ground-breaking innovative ideas, many of whom have gone on to become leaders in cancer research globally.
This year, AORUS is proud to join ASM2025 as a major partner, supporting the production of the event with its range of streaming hardware, promoting the marathon to the AORUS community, offering select AORUS GIGABYTE products as prizes to those who donate, and donating directly to the fundraising efforts itself.
Alex Ciobanu from AORUS: “We’re excited to be part of this year’s Speedrun Marathon and support with our new GIGABYTE OLED monitors for both the production team with our MO27U2 models featuring a 27-inch 4K 240Hz OLED panel, as well as two giveaway prizes with our MO32U models featuring a 32-inch 4K 165Hz OLED panel. We’re delighted to support this amazing community and great cause!”
Stephen Philp from AusSpeedruns said: “AusSpeedruns is proud to present the Australian Speedrunning Marathon 2025 – our tenth anniversary and the biggest celebration of the Australian speedrunning community to date. We’re very proud to be raising funds for Game On Cancer® to help make this the last generation to die from cancer. We’re thankful for the assistance from AORUS for this event, and the ways in which their support has helped to make this event possible.”
We’re also thrilled to welcome two incredible local businesses as official Partners for this year’s event: Urban Climb and Infinite Worlds Tattoo.
As a Local Partner, Urban Climb has generously contributed a range of prizes and giveaways to help bring the event to life. This includes 7 x single-entry passes (each valued at $37, including gear hire), and 50 x two-for-one vouchers, all to be distributed during the event to lucky attendees.
Joining as a Silver Tier Partner, Infinite Worlds Tattoo will be adding a creative spark to the event with an on-site tattoo artist offering flash sheet designs. Their involvement brings a unique and memorable experience for guests looking to mark the occasion.
We’re grateful for the generous contributions from all of our partners, and their support in making this year’s event unforgettable.
Alexandra Lynne, Gaming Campaign and Content Manager at Cure Cancer, said, “We are absolutely delighted to be working with the AusSpeedruns team, once again, for another Australian Speedrun Marathon. Last year at ASM2024 the incredible AusSpeedruns community raised more than $30,000, and to date the team have raised more than $100,000 to support life-saving cancer research across a number of different events.”
The full schedule for ASM2025 as well as details of the talent involved can be found on the AusSpeedruns website and the event can be viewed live on the AusSpeedruns Twitch channel. Donations to the fundraiser can be made on the ASM2025 Tiltify fundraising page.
