Aqara Brings Always-On Doorbell Security to Australia with the G400 Wired Doorbell Camera
Smart 2K doorbell camera combines PoE reliability, on-device AI, and broad smart home compatibility, now available for Australian homeowners
Aqara, a global leader and pioneer in IoT, today announced the Australian availability of the Aqara 2K Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired/PoE), a professional-grade video doorbell designed for continuous, always-on home security.
The G400 delivers 2K resolution video through a 165-degree ultra-wide lens with a 3:4 head-to-toe aspect ratio, giving homeowners a complete view of their doorstep, from a visitor’s face down to any packages left at the door.
Wired for Reliability
Unlike battery-powered alternatives, the G400 is designed for uninterrupted operation. Homeowners can choose between Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), which delivers both power and a stable network connection through a single Ethernet cable, or connect to existing 8–24V doorbell wiring paired with dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Both options ensure 24/7 recording without the need to recharge.
Smart Detection, Even When You’re Offline
The G400 processes motion and person detection directly on the device, meaning security alerts continue even if the internet connection drops. Homeowners can set up custom detection zones to monitor specific areas, such as a front path or porch, and receive notifications the moment someone enters or leaves.
For those who want to go further, Aqara’s HomeGuardian cloud service adds advanced AI capabilities including face, package, vehicle, and animal recognition. An AI-powered video search and summary feature also eliminates the need to scrub through hours of footage, letting users quickly find and review specific events.
Designed for Cross-Platform Living
The G400 integrates with Apple Home (including HomeKit Secure Video), Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. It also supports RTSP and ONVIF, making it compatible with network video recorders, and other third-party platforms, so homeowners are never locked into a single ecosystem.
When a visitor presses the doorbell, the homeowner receives an instant video call on their phone with two-way audio. If they prefer not to answer live, customisable quick-reply messages let them respond in seconds.
Privacy and Storage on Your Terms
The G400 supports local recording to a microSD card (up to 512GB) with automatic backup to a NAS server, giving homeowners full control over their footage. For cloud storage, Aqara’s HomeGuardian service offers up to 90 days of end-to-end encrypted recording.
Additional privacy features include video region masking and voice modification during two-way conversations. The camera is rated IP65 for year-round outdoor use and includes a tamper alarm that triggers if someone attempts to remove the device.
Built for Versatility
With an IP65 weatherproof rating, the G400 is built to withstand rain, dust, and the harsh Australian sun. It ships with both adhesive and screw-mount options, plus a 15-degree wedge bracket for flexible positioning. A wireless chime unit is included in the box.
Availability
The Aqara 2K Doorbell Camera G400 (Wired/PoE) is available now exclusively through the Aqara Australia online store at an RRP of $199. Aussies can take advantage of Aqara’s special launch offer pricing of $149 if purchased between the 11th and 25th of May.
