Animal Crossing New Horizons meets Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium

Blurring the boundaries of the traditional ‘fourth wall’ of the aquarium tank comes a unique collaboration between Nintendo and Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium as they blend marine wonder with Animal Crossing charm. That’s right, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has come to Sea Life as it puts a unique twist on an already awesome experience. So if you’re an Animal Crossing fan, Sea Life is the place to be, as the game’s charming elements are showcased throughout this larger-than-life interactive aquarium

The additional layer of interactive is fun as children dart between exhibits clutching stamp rally cards, while parents pause to snap photos with life-sized cutouts of Isabelle and Blathers plus all the denizens of Sea Life from fish, sharks, turtles and penguins! From the very start however, it’s clear that this collaboration isn’t just a novelty, it’s been crafted with care to captivate fans of all ages with plenty of Animal Crossing references.

Further, the Wonder Room hosts scheduled meet-and-greet sessions with Isabelle herself, much to the delight of younger fans. These moments, paired with the well-placed surprises further cement that interactive theatre to the aquarium. It’s not unusual to see guests pause at each station, collecting stamps while simultaneously learning about creatures like octopuses, rays, and everyone’s favourite deep-sea escape artist Octavian and maybe even Aurora the penguin, albeit in real life!

Rounding out the experience is a tidy selection of exclusive merchandise, much of it designed for the event, which gives guests the option to take home a small piece of the collaboration. What might have felt like a corporate tie-in instead blossoms into something genuinely engaging—an aquarium visit imbued with personality, nostalgia and a sense of shared joy that gamers and their family will truly enjoy.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sea Life runs from 24 June to 17 August 2025 and for more information please visit https://www.visitsealife.com/melbourne/whats-inside/event-overview/animal-crossing-new-horizons/
