Andy and the Odd Socks returned to Australia with their trademark chaos, colour and irresistible charm, delivering an interactive concert that had the entire Palais Theatre buzzing from the first beat. The show kicked off with classic Oddsocks mischief when Roadie Whiff (Damian Williams) ignored a very clear warning and plugged his mobile phone into a wall socket, plunging the entire world into darkness. Thankfully Mac leapt into action, transforming his hoover robot into a gig‑o‑metre capable of converting music and the roar of an excited crowd into pure electricity. It’s wonderfully silly and perfectly on‑brand storytelling that sets the scene for the concert.
The stage itself looked spectacular, framed by giant speakers and bathed in excellent lighting that worked hand-in-hand with the music. Further, the band mirrored the bright, playful colours from the TV series, giving the whole production a familiar visual identity that delighted the kids in the audience … and adults. The acoustics inside the Palais Theatre were on par, giving every instrument and vocal line real clarity and punch. Combined with the venue’s warm ambience, the entire show felt truly alive and very immersive.
Frontman Andy Day, joined by cousin Mac (Stuart McCheyne), drummer Moxy (Holly Mallett) and guitarists Blu (Marcus Ramtohul) and Rio (Marcelo Cervone), powered through a fast‑paced set packed with fan favourites. Alien, Noisy Neville, The Kids Are United and Rock‑a‑Bye all had kids and adults alike dancing, jumping and shouting along. Dinosaur Football Legend Mega Match was a standout moment, especially when a brave parent volunteer suited up as a dinosaur to join the fun.
The concert also featured delightful appearances on the giant screen, including Andy’s mum, a surprise cameo from Mr Maker (Phil Gallagher) and even the Godfather of Rock himself, the legendary Brian May. Much like the TV series, the band performed with tight harmonies, infectious energy and a playful on-stage chemistry that instantly connected with the audience. Of course, their theme song and the beloved “Who’s in the Odd Socks” brought the house theatre down, albeit metaphorically.
Final Thoughts?
With pirates, a human banana and a heartfelt nod to the legendary Freddie Mercury, the Turn It Up to 11 Tour absolutely lived up to its name. By the end, the Oddsocks had not only restored power to the world but delivered a joyous, high‑voltage celebration of music, silliness and pure family fun plus a fun encore.
Brilliant.
