American Express Openair Cinemas Announce Action-Packed International 2019/20 Summer Season

Today, American Express Openair Cinemas unveil an exciting Summer program of food and films, spanning Australia and New Zealand. The 2019-20 Trans-Tasman tour runs until April 2020, and will visit eight stunning locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Auckland and Christchurch

American Express Openair Cinemas are dedicated to hosting more than movies, with festival-vibe entertainment on offer and American Express Card Members receiving a range of exclusive benefits.

FILMS

Gracing the screen this season is an exciting mix of box office hits and highly anticipated new releases including Hustlers, Joker, Zombieland: Double Tap, Charlie’s Angels, Last Christmas, Ford v Ferrari, Knives Out, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Jumanji: The Next Level, Little Women and Bombshell to name a few.

Big and little kids alike will rejoice at family-friendly screenings of Abominable, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Addams Family, Spies in Disguise, and the highly anticipated snow-queen sequel, Frozen 2.

For fans of cult classics, this year’s program does not disappoint, featuring beloved favorites such as 10 Things I Hate About YouLove ActuallyElfMean Girls and Clueless (“As if!”).

FUN 

With more than 200 events taking place across the country, the Openair-vibe will be in full swing with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.

Film fanatics and dog owners are invited to bring their K9 friends to any screening in the program, as all venues are pet friendly.

FOOD

Each stop on the international tour will showcase the best food-trucks across the nation, as event partners LADROMr Papa, Queensland Pizza Brothers and Presto Pizza delight moviegoers with gourmet food.

No event is complete without an option for those with a sweet tooth, and Häagen-Dazs will be providing scoops for the film loving troops across the trans-Tasman tour.

DRINKS

Refreshments on tap will tickle moviegoers’ taste buds throughout the program, thanks to drink partners Giesen Wines, PIMM’S and 4 Pines Brewing Company beer.

 American Express Openair Cinemas is also thrilled to be partnering with Cure Cancer, to raise lifesaving funds for early career researchers around AustraliaCinemagoers are invited to donate onsite via Cure Cancer contactless Tap to Donate technology, whilst enjoying a number of activations and raffle prizes to raise funds throughout the season.

American Express Card Members are invited to relax and enjoy the full VIP cinema experience by purchasing a ticket to the American Express Lounge. Card Members will get their own beanbag and get comfortable with a cushion and blanket as well as some tasty treats.  American Express Card Members also enjoy 15% off selected tickets, complimentary blanket hire and access to the American Express Garden where they can enjoy sunset drinks and purchase decadent caramel popcorn.

Everyone can treat themselves with a variety of seating options available and add a touch of comfort to a night under the stars with a lounger, a Kathmandu Camping Chair or blanket which can be hired online or onsite. Premium tickets to Prime Video Lounge include reserved seating on a comfy beanbag, service straight to your seat and a glass of wine.
