AMD Doubles Down on Smooth Gameplay with DX12 mGPU Frame Pacing

On the heels of announcing the most affordable VR-ready PC ever, AMD has continued making waves in the industry, unleashing new DirectX12 optimisations and exceptional performance in the latest AAA titles.

AMD has rolled out frame pacing support to DX12 applications, bringing the smoothest and most technologically advanced gameplay experiences to DX12 and multi-GPU (mGPU) enthusiasts.

In mGPU configurations, GPUs render alternating frames and push each frame to your screen. Each render can be created at various speeds causing differences in frame time. With frame pacing in place, frames are distributed evenly with less variance between frames, creating liquid smooth gameplay and ultimately an incredible overall gaming experience.

There are a number of games currently take advantage of frame pacing in DirectX 12 including Total War: Warhammer and Rise of the Tomb Raider. You can learn more about mGPU frame pacing on our blog or you can check out the video here.
