Cordless smarts!

The Aiper Seagull Pro Lite (2023) does the unthinkable and creates a powerful yet affordable cordless robotic pool cleaner that makes keeping your pool clean a breeze and more importantly, keeps up with its corded mechanical brethren in terms of overall performance. It’s also a smart cleaner that ensures the best cleaning coverage of your pool and when it’s finished, it will automatically park in its designated spot, ready for collection. So if you’re looking for minimal human input, this is the droid you’re looking for!

Corded pool cleaners do the job – however you have the excessive cord which makes storage annoying (not to mention a trip hazard) and the other element, you need a mains connection for it to work. They are also cumbersome to move and further, when they break down, they really break down with repairs being super costly. This is where your new robot friend comes into play, the Aiper Seagull Pro Lite that retails for $1099AUD (December 2023) and seriously makes pool cleaning a super easy process.

While it cleans the floors, it will clean walls up to the waterline and has a suction of suction power of 130 GPM (Gallon per Minute) with a wide suction port of 6.1″ and with its large 7800mAh battery capacity, you’re in good hands with the Seagull Pro Lite. In order to keep up with corded cleaners, the Aiper Seagull Pro Lite uses a Quad-Motor System to climb walls and its roller brushes enables better overall cleaning. To clean your entire pool, it uses the proprietary WavePath™ Navigation Technology that ensures nothing is missed while doing its job.

To remove the Aiper Seagull Pro Lite from your pool, you use the included retrieval hook in order to bring the unit to the surface. This is done by hooking it under the handle that is also used to the carry the robot. While the unit isn’t that heavy at 9.4kgs, it senses when you are about to take it out of the water which is where the quick water release activates to make it retrieval lighter. However with the retrieval hook, I had to do a MacGyver as it was too small to fit on my existing pool pole, so thankfully my Cabot’s deck pole was the perfect fit.

The 7800mAh battery lasts up to 140 minutes and to charge, it takes around 3 hours. To charge the unit, you simply remove the cap from the power port and then connect the charging cable and presto, the unit will start to charge. It’s always a good idea to charge the unit after 1 or 2 cleans so you when you need it, the Seagull Pro Lite is ready to go! A floor clean for us is about 70 minutes.

Controlling the unit is very easy and there is a dial on the top of the robot with LED indicators. You can turn it three ways that provides automatic, floor and wall cleaning. Floor cleaning provides an “S” pattern for cleaning, whereas wall cleaning uses an “N” pattern. The dial also displays how much charge is left in the battery which includes Blue (50 – 89%), Yellow (10 – 49%) and Red ( < 9%). When the unit goes under 10%, it automatically moves to a corner.

Once the Aiper Sealgull Pro Lite has completed its cleaning cycle, you need to empty out the filter basket. This again is another simple process and the hatch on the robot simply opens up and then you use the handle on the basket to remove it. The next step is to thoroughly wash the basket in order to remove any leaves or debris found in it. A garden hose or the laundry sink are the best ways to keep the basket clean because if you don’t, the material of the basket will start to wear thin and break.

Unboxing

The Aiper Seagull Pro Lite comes with everything you need to start your cordless robotic cleaning experience and the first step is to read the manual and charge the unit.

Easy access to the filter basket.

Kudos to Aiper for including a very well written and easy to follow manual – there is even a section on maintenance.

So how is the cleaning of the Seagull Pro Lite? Compared to its corded behemoth, this cordless robotic pool cleaner smashed our old Zodiac! It actually picked up a considerable amount of more debris, including fine dirt and reached more of the harder to reach places of our pool which the Zodiac failed to do. Thankfully our pool only needs one clean a week, unless it rains so the Seagull Pro Lite is perfect.

Here is a before and after shot – In order to see the debris on the first shot, I had to modify the contrast of the before photo.

Another highlight of the cleaning is that Seagull Pro Lite doesn’t get stuck in certain parts of the pool. Additionally no cord to get stuck on either.

Final Thoughts?

The Aiper Seagull Pro Lite successfully cuts the cords and provides a true cordless robotic pool cleaner experience but delivers a powerful clean of both the floor and walls of your pool. With almost no-setup, easy controls and a large battery to thoroughly clean most midsize pools, the Aiper Seagull Pro Lite is indeed the future of robotic pool cleaners. Best of all, this cordless robotic pool cleaner outperformed our old corded dinosaur cleaner and proves that this is the future of all water based robots.

I’m also excited to see where Aiper are headed with their smart tech and hopefully future models incorporate app control plus the ability to activate the quick water release to make it head straight to the top. Lastly, it comes with a 2-year warranty for some peace of mind and unlike some of the corded leaders in the market, the Aiper Seagull Pro Lite is considerably cheaper. Brilliant robotics at work!
