Chery unveils specifications for new Stockman ute

Chery Australia has provided an early look at the capability of its upcoming Stockman ute, previewing its Diesel Super Hybrid powertrain that’s designed to deliver outstanding performance, long electric driving capability and serious towing credentials.
Developed to meet the demands of tradies, adventurers, families and regional motorists alike, the Stockman combines a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with Chery’s advanced Super Hybrid System, delivering the benefits of electrification without compromising the towing, payload and off-road performance Australians expect from a dual-cab ute.
The Stockman’s diesel-electric powertrain produces a combined 350kW of power and 800Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful electrified utes in its class. A four-wheel drive system ensures confident performance on and off the road, while the hybrid system provides up to 100 kilometres of electric-only driving range (NEDC) for everyday commuting and urban driving.
Engineered with genuine work capability in mind, the Stockman delivers a 3,500kg braked towing capacity, supported by a robust chassis, double wishbone front suspension and heavy-duty rear leaf spring suspension. Combined with 247mm of ground clearance and standard all-terrain tyres, the Stockman has been designed to tackle challenging terrain while maintaining the durability expected from a modern ute.
Stockman’s generous proportions further reinforce its practicality, measuring 5,450mm long, 2,010mm wide and 1,890mm high, with a 3,250mm wheelbase and a cargo tub measuring 1,560mm x 1,560mm x 500mm, providing ample space for work equipment, recreational gear for weekend adventures.
The introduction of the Stockman represents a significant milestone for Chery Australia as the brand enters one of the country’s most competitive and important automotive segments.

“Ute buyers expect a vehicle that can work hard during the week, tackle weekend adventures and deliver strong value. Our Super Hybrid technology is designed to meet those expectations by combining electric driving capability with the power, towing and off-road performance customers demand.”
The Stockman will launch in Q4 2026 with a petrol-powered variant joining the lineup next year.
Further details, including pricing, model grades and full Australian specifications, will be announced closer to the Stockman’s local launch.
