Agnes Obel Announces Special Guests For September Tour Of Australia And New Zealand

Renowned for her elegant, elastic voice, Berlin-based, Danish-born singer, songwriter, producer, and classically trained pianist Agnes Obel makes her long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand in September, marking her first shows here since her sold-out 2022 tour.

Today, she has unveiled two very special guests for the tour. Opening all 3 Australian shows is Peter Gregson, whilst Dream Chambers will take the honours in Auckland.

Agnes Obel’s Tour will commence at QPAC Concert Hall, Brisbane on Thursday 24 September, followed by Hamer Hall, Melbourne on Saturday 26 September and Sydney Opera House, Sydney on Sunday 27 September; before heading to Aotearoa on Tuesday 29 September 2026 at Te Paepae Theatre NZICC, Auckland, marking her only second ever show in New Zealand.

Peter Gregson, London based composer and cellist, sits at the intersection of contemporary classical music, technology, and modern songwriting. Known for his distinctive blend of acoustic cello and electronics, Gregson is one of the most innovative curators in the new classical landscape, creating music that moves fluidly between the recording studio, concert halls, theaters, and the big screen.

Gregson’s 2025 self-titled album Peter Gregson, released on Decca Records, marked a creative milestone. Conceived as a modern collection of “songs without words,” the album pairs cello with a modular synthesizer built by Gregson himself.  Alongside his recording career, Gregson is a sought-after composer and collaborator across film, television and games. His work extends to dance and theatre, with commissions from leading companies around the world. As an artist and cellist, Gregson has collaborated on works by leading contemporary composers including Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Steve Reich and Gabriel Prokofiev, he performs internationally in venues ranging from leading concert halls concert halls to experimental art spaces. Recent performances have seen Gregson perform solo at the iconic Royal Albert Hall as Agnes Obel’s special guest and at London’s Southbank Centre for a new commission entitled “Concrete Voids” with Aurora Orchestra. 2026 began with Gregson reaching a new audience when his arrangement of Charli xcx’s “360” (for cello obligato and string quartet)—featured in the fourth season of Netflix’s global hit series Bridgerton, introducing his work and profile to millions of music consumers.

Dream Chambers is the moniker of composer and musician Jess Chambers. She combines her skills as a vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter to create captivating compositions on modular synthesizers, performing her work both solo and in various ensemble configurations. Beginning as a folk songwriter in Aotearoa and later exploring electronics within Nashville’s experimental music scene, Chambers’ career has been defined by transformation and cross-genre collaboration. Her catalogue includes five solo albums and over a dozen collaborative recordings, spanning genres from country to drum and bass.

Jess is currently expanding her practice into screen composition. Her feature film debut, the comedy-horror Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2026. Other recent highlights include a US tour of an original live score for the 1922 horror classic Nosferatu and presenting six of her works in concert with Nashville’s contemporary classical ensemble Chatterbird. Outside of her creative projects, Jess co-facilitates Techno Echo, a collective making space for womenand gender-diverse creatives to learn about music technology.

After a five-year break from the foreground, Agnes Obel returned to stages in 2025 with her European tour that sold-out shortly after announce, and included a date at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The intimate live performances comprised of songs from her acclaimed studio albums: Philharmonics,

Aventine, Citizen of Glass and Myopia were accompanied by brand new tracks, which offer a glimpse of new material to come.

Agnes Obel’s poised and melancholic chamber pop draws from the same atmosphere-heavy well as cinematic spellcasters, but with a succinct aura of Scandinavian refinery.

An evocative blend of alternative, neo-classical, pop, jazz & electronic production found mass success in Europe on the strength of the platinum-selling Philharmonics & Aventine. Both albums were written (with the exception of a John Cale cover), performed & produced by Obel herself. Pure, austere, and remarkably poised, the pristine mix of instrumentals, atmosphere, melancholy balladry and unique production was both a critical & commercial success.

Her ambitious 2016 release, Citizen of Glass, introduced ghostly electronics, voice modulation, and a late-’20s monophonic synthesizer called a Trautonium into the mix, helped to establish her on a world-wide basis as both a songwriter, artist and producer.

In 2018 Agnes signed with Deutsche Grammophon (and Blue Note Records in the United States). Later the same year Obel curated a Late Night Tales compilation, featuring original music and poetry.

2020 saw Obel release her fourth full-length studio album, Myopia, and once again, just like her previous album trilogy, was entirely self-written, recorded & produced by Obel herself in her home studio in Berlin. Extensive world touring followed across 18 countries throughout Europe, United Kingdom, United States, Australia & New Zealand.

Obel’s music is a mainstay in the world of TV, cinema, gaming and fashion. Including usage in the likes of The Last of Us, True Detective, Big Little Lies and Dark Souls III. Riverside, Fuel to Fire, The Curse, September Song, It’s Happening Again, Familiar… the list of tracks adored by fellow creatives goes on.
