Lock & Load

On the battlefield (cliché alert), the best loadouts are the ones that work together so seamlessly that you stop thinking about your gear and start thinking about the win and Razer’s new Viper V4 Pro and Gigantus V2 Pro land exactly in that space. One sharpens your aim, the other shapes how it moves and together they feel like a setup built for players who want every motion, every click and every decision to land perfectly on the battlefield. It’s like the Viper and the Gigantus were forged on the battlefield, the “ultimate” team to provide you, the gamer, with two aces up your sleeve!

Razer Viper V4 Pro Review

The first “loadout” that we tried was the new Razer Viper V4 Pro, which builds upon the previous generation that many gamers swear by, however this version fine‑tunes its predecessor by adding improvements under the chassis. This includes the new HyperSpeed Wireless Gen 2 platform, which brings true 8,000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless modes and the Pro 50K Gen 3 sensor that delivers 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS and 90 G acceleration. Additionally, the new Frame Sync tech helps align sensor frames with polling cycles for extremely responsive gaming.

Add in the deep tuning options with Dynamic Sensitivity, 1 DPI steps, Smart Tracking and Asymmetric Cut Off and the Razer Viper V4 Pro has seriously been designed for players who want control over every variable when using this mouse. Further, the Gen 4 Optical Mouse Switches deliver crisp, tactile clicks (satisfying sound) without the debounce issues that plague some mechanical switches. Razer has also redesigned its dongle with a new hemispherical (dome‑shaped) Gen‑2 Dongle that, according to Razer, reduces signal interference and makes the 8,000 Hz connection more stable. Speaking of stable, it sits better on your desktop opposed to the older dongle.

Design wise, the Razer Viper V4 Pro channels the high‑end aesthetics of the previous generation, which looks identical, but importantly, it feels nice in your hand with the palm grip. It also feels quite durable and professionally built and will last you quite well on the various worlds and battlefields that you visit. From a weight perspective, the V4 Pro is “9% lighter” than the V3 Pro, with the new black edition at 49 grams and the white edition at 50 grams – it’s ultralightweight. What about the battery? At 1,000 Hz, the battery offers up to 180 hours, which is impressive for a mouse of this calibre and with the included cable, you will never be out of power and, for the most part, be able to run this mouse all the time. If you’re running it on the 8,000 Hz polling mode, the wireless drops to around 45 hours, which is still very impressive.

Razer Gigantus V2 Pro Review

The other part of this dynamic duo is the Gigantus V2 Pro, which takes a different approach than most mouse mats by offering five distinct speed ratings, each with its own weave pattern and matching GlideCore foam firmness. Instead of forcing players into a one‑size‑fits‑all surface, it lets them choose exactly how much friction, stopping power and glide they want. Max Control delivers a grippy, deliberate feel for players who rely on micro‑adjustments, while Max Speed offers a near‑frictionless glide for wide‑swing aimers. The three middle tiers of Control (reviewed), Balance and Speed fill in the gaps, giving riflers, duelists, ADCs and flex players a surface that matches their style rather than working against it.

Thanks to Razer, I tested the “Control – High Friction” Gigantus V2 Pro which provides very smooth gliding that makes it ideal for first person shooters plus the optical sensor the mouse will love it and it also feels good resting your hand and arm on it. The mat is also built with hardcore gaming in mind due to its low‑profile stitched edges to prevent fraying, an anti‑slip base that stays put during frantic swipes and a rollable, warp‑resistant design that’s easy to pack for travel. So yes, there are mouse pads and then there are gaming mouse pads and the Gigantus is the latter.

The Team Up!

Individually, the Viper V4 Pro and Gigantus V2 Pro are strong upgrades from Razer, however together, it’s a team‑up for those looking for the perfect combination of mouse and mat. The V4 Pro’s ultra‑low latency (55% lower than the V3 Pro) and high‑integrity tracking feel more responsive when paired with the Gigantus V2, as the Viper V4 Pro glided nicely with unparalleled accuracy. As a result, I found myself less likely to pick up the mouse to find that “sweet” spot because they work so well hand in hand.

Games such as Call of Duty Black Ops 7 and Doom: The Dark Ages provided more control and power to my gaming with this combination. Furthermore, the mouse and keyboard combo for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Ghost of Yōtei played well with the Viper V4 Pro and Gigantus V2 Pro, particularly for those sections that required additional accuracy.

The Third Loadout?

There is a third element as part of this duo and that is the Razer Synapse software which provides further control and tweaks to the mouse such as sensitivity levels, DPI adjustments and the important firmware updates. It also supports the new Synapse Web that allows you to tweak the V4 Pro via any Chrome based browser that is a game changer as you don’t need to install the standalone app.

Final Thoughts

In the end, Razer isn’t reinventing the wheel here, they’re just making it spin a whole lot faster and when you pair that 49 g featherweight of the Razer V4 Pro with a Gigantus V2 Pro mat set to your specific friction preference, it’s a system that literally works on all levels and whether you’re grinding through fast‑paced shooters or navigating the demands of more methodical titles, the pairing holds up without hesitation. My only recommendation I would make to Razer is release the mouse pads in glorious colours next time!

Razer Viper V4 Pro Features

Unmatched Speed and Precision

  • Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 with true 8,000 Hz polling
While the DeathAdder V4 Pro was the first to debut this next-gen wireless platform, the Viper V4 Pro pushes the boundary even further – now delivering ultra-fast latency with averages as low as 0.204 ms for clicks and 0.36 ms for motion, and true 8,000 Hz polling in both wireless and wired modes. Thanks to improved wireless efficiency and sensor optimisations, the Viper V4 Pro is around 2.5 times faster in motion latency and achieves up to 180 hours of battery life (at 1,000 Hz), nearly double the play time compared to equivalent wireless gaming mice options.
  • Razer Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3
Next level precision with up to 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, and 90 G acceleration, now featuring Frame Sync, the first sensor technology in the market to align sensor frames with the mouse’s scanning and polling cycle for just-in-time scanning and reporting. This minimises motion latency even further, allowing for faster and more responsive aim, all while improving battery efficiency by eliminating redundant sensor updates. The sensor also includes advanced software tools such as Dynamic Sensitivity, Mouse Rotation, 1 DPI step adjustments, Sensitivity Matcher, Asymmetric Cut Off (26 levels), and Smart Tracking to elevate gameplay and make it easier to port settings between different setups.

Built to Last

  • Razer Optical Scroll Wheel
Optical scroll wheel tuned for esports that is 3.3 times more reliable and consistent than traditional mechanical designs. It offers more precise scrolling and helps prevent unintended scroll inputs during weapon swaps, ability cycling, or inventory navigation.
  • Razer Optical Mouse Switches Gen-4
Redesigned with a completely updated switch architecture, delivering ultra-fast response times and up to a 100-million-click lifecycle. It retains true mechanical tactile feedback while leveraging optical actuation for crisp, consistent clicks with zero debounce delay, eliminating double-click issues common in mechanical switches.

Shaped by Pros. Made to Clutch

  • Ultra-light. Ultra-balanced.
Approximately 49 g in Black and 50 g in White – around 9% lighter than the Viper V3 Pro. This reduction is achieved through mechanical optimisations such as refined shell thickness and a more compact PCB, while reinforced structural elements ensure stability and durability. The result is a mouse that feels exceptionally light yet reassuringly solid in hand.
  • Ready to Plug-In and Perform
An optimised hemispherical dongle provides stable connectivity and at-a-glance status via integrated LED indicators. Razer Synapse Web enables streamlined, browser-based device tuning without software installation, and quick onboard adjustments let players change DPI and polling on the fly, for instant in match optimisation.
