Sean Collyns Interview – Australian Psychic Medium, Author & Spiritual Teacher
Australian medium Sean Collyns didn’t grow up expecting to speak with the dead. In fact, for most of his childhood he tried to ignore the strange figures, orbs and flashes of blue energy that appeared in his room at night. Like many kids, he chalked it up to imagination and pushed it aside. But life had other plans. A chance visit to a medium at fifteen set off a chain of events that would eventually lead Sean to a coffee shop counter at eighteen, watching customers walk in with spirits standing quietly at their shoulders.
Since then, Sean has become known for his calm, grounded approach to mediumship and his belief that spiritual connection isn’t a rare gift but an innate ability of the soul. His new book and upcoming tour aim to demystify the spiritual world, making it accessible to anyone curious enough to explore it. Through stories, teachings and live audience readings, Sean hopes to show people that intuition, connection and soul‑level awareness are not only real but deeply transformative.
In this conversation, Sean speaks candidly about discovering his abilities, what he believes happens after we die, how he manages the emotional weight of his work and why he thinks humanity is on the cusp of something bigger. He also shares insights into his book and his tour.
Q&A with Sean Collyns
Q: How did you first discover you had this ability?
Sean: There were a lot of different factors throughout my life. As a kid, I would see figures in my room, orbs and this blue energy man but I wrote it off as an overactive imagination. I blocked it out for years because, like many kids, I didn’t know how to understand it as it was easier to shut it all out.
When I was 15, I went to a medium who told me I had this ability and that I’d one day be well known for it. I didn’t believe her, even though she was incredible. But by 18, I was working in a coffee shop and customers would walk in with spirits standing over their shoulders, giving me messages to pass on. That was the moment I knew it was real for me.
Q: How do those messages come through to you?
Sean: It’s not like having a conversation. It’s more an overwhelming presence, thought, or awareness that hits me. When I connect with spirit, it’s like an overlay of their mind, thoughts, words and memories within my own. I have to interpret that and piece it together.
Q: Do you still see spirits physically, or is it all internal now?
Sean: Most of it is internal these days. When I was starting out, I’d often see a figure or an energy shaped like a person standing next to someone. Every now and then I still see something but spirits communicate more easily with me when it’s all internal and subtle
Q: How do you manage boundaries and avoid being “on” all the time?
Sean: It’s not always easy. If all I have to do is show up for spirit, I can do it for a long time. But when I have other things going on, I need to restrict how much energy I use. It takes a lot of brain power, and some days I’ve overworked myself to the point where I’ve had to get home quickly because I felt so vacant afterwards.
Q: Is there a consistent message that comes through from spirit?
Sean: The most consistent message is that they’re okay — they’re not in pain, they’re not suffering and they love the people they’ve left behind. They also often apologise for things they did in life and want to take responsibility in ways they never did when they were here.
Q: What happens when we leave this physical life?
Sean: We go back to where we were before we came here. This life is the temporary part. Our true home is a different plane of frequency not a far‑away heaven in the clouds but a shift in vibration. When we’re there, we’re not limited by time or space.
Q: Do you believe we live other lives or exist elsewhere in the universe?
Sean: Absolutely. I believe our soul chooses many different types of experiences, including on other planets. Kids who remember past lives often validate details they couldn’t possibly know. I don’t think the soul is limited to one form.
Q: Have you ever had frightening experiences doing mediumship?
Sean: Every spirit is pure. Sometimes I misunderstood things early on and felt scared but now I know that when I’m communicating with a soul, I’m connecting with divine energy. The only unsettling part is seeing what some spirits went through before they passed that can be graphic but I’m not afraid of them.
Q: Do we reunite with our loved ones after we pass?
Sean: Absolutely. Every spirit I’ve communicated with shows me that the people they loved were waiting for them. And we never truly leave the spirit world as part of us is always there. So there’s never really a disconnect.
Q: What do you believe is happening to humanity right now? Are we evolving?
Sean: Human consciousness goes through cycles of rising and sinking. I believe ancient civilisations reached very high levels of understanding. Right now, despite everything happening in the world, the message I keep receiving is that the cracks are where the light gets in. What’s happening is crucial for us to evolve and reconnect as a collective.
Q: Tell us about your new book and tour.
Sean: My book demystifies the spiritual world and makes it accessible to everyone. I believe everyone has a soul and therefore everyone can access abilities of the soul — intuition, manifestation, connection. It’s not a gift as it’s something you learn to tap into.
The tour explores all of this. I’ll share behind‑the‑scenes stories but mostly I’ll be delivering messages from the spirit world to audience members. I open the door, allow the details to come through and trust that the right person will recognise the message.
Q: How do spirits decide who comes through during a live event?
Sean: They work with a lot of intelligence. Sometimes I’ll see something days before like a billboard about milk farmers and then on stage, that image flashes in my mind because the spirit connecting with me was a milk farmer. They plan it. There’s also improvisation on the night, depending on how people respond.
Q: What do you say to sceptics — and to believers?
Sean: To sceptics, I say you should be sceptical until you’ve had your own experience. But if there’s even a possibility this is real, it’s worth exploring with an open mind. They’ll also be pleasantly surprised.
To believers, I say good for you. Connecting to something greater gives people purpose. Mediumship offers evidence if you’re willing to look. undeniable amounts of it.
Q: Is there a culture that you feel understands spirituality best?
Sean: Buddhism is very tapped into the true nature of the universe. But I think there’s truth in all religions and flaws too, because they’re human constructs. Spirituality is about your own resonance, your own beliefs, and staying open to infinite possibility.
