Aqara Australia launches Smart Wall Switch H2 – a simple switch with powerful possibilities

Aqara, a global leader and pioneer in smart home solutions, is today announcing the availability of its Smart Wall Switch H2 (Vertical and Horizontal) in Australia. Designed with flexibility and compatibility in mind, the Smart Wall Switch H2 empowers Australians to bring intelligent control into every corner of their homes.

Effortlessly turn lights and other smart devices on and off, or control them wirelessly with ease. Available in 1-, 2- and 3-channel versions and several button configurations (2 button or 4 button), it caters to diverse control needs, whether for a single bedroom lamp, a full living room setup or whole-home automation. Additionally the Smart Wall Switch H2 supports three different press modes – single, double and long-press, giving users plenty of flexibility to create their perfect smart home.

Aussies do not need to worry about compatibility issues with their existing home wiring, as the switch supports both neutral and non-neutral setups. In many older homes where a neutral wire isn’t present, the switch installs without extra wiring. In newer builds that do include neutral wiring, users can unlock advanced features such as overload protection and energy monitoring.

Thread & Zigbee support: The Smart Wall Switch H2 combines compatibility with ease of use, supporting both Zigbee and Matter over Thread protocols with no need for an Aqara hub to connect to third-party ecosystems such as Apple Home, Google, Alexa and others. Zigbee mode unlocks exclusive Aqara features and ensures backwards compatibility with Aqara Zigbee hubs.
Decoupled Switch Mode: Separate wired and wireless functions allow users to customise automations. Electrical switches control wired loads and can be locked to maintain a specific state such as keeping lights always powered. Users can also turn the physical buttons into wireless buttons in the Aqara Home app once the switch is decoupled, bringing flexibility for customised automations and scene controls by connecting different types of smart devices. Wireless switches can be configured with automations and scenes.
Power Monitoring: The switch monitors the power consumption of connected wired devices and provides energy consumption reports in Aqara Home. Users can use this data to optimise their daily electricity usage or create energy-saving plans and automations to reduce consumption. Only available with neutral wiring.

For busy families, it provides one-touch control of multiple lights or devices to simplify routines. For example, a single press of the switch can trigger a bedtime routine that turns off all household lights, locks the front door and even starts a white noise machine in the kids’ room for calmer bedtime.
For gentle wake-ups, pressing the switch can gradually brighten the bedroom lights, open your roller shades and play soft music to ease you into the day.
For those working from home, a press of the switch could turn on the desk lamp, power up a smart plug for your computer and adjust blinds to reduce glare.
For hands-free arrivals, pair the switch with an Aqara doorbell so that when someone arrives home and opens the door, lights turn on automatically and the air conditioning starts running. Alternatively, a presence sensor could automatically detect your presence and turn on the lights, then turn them off after a set time once the sensor detects no presence.
