Summary: An important issue told in a relatable way to make you feel that persons point of view. Well worth a look if you are turned off by more academic or political coverage of these issues.

Wonderful

An autobiographical story about Sara and her partner Diana’s transitioning and how it affected them both over the years. It started out as a zine and she was encouraged to add more to it and release it as a full feature story.

I have read similar stories on the same theme in the past and this one comes across as differently due to the way it is presented but still manages to show the real emotion and tell the story well. I liked the way the way people are drawn shows their true feelings straight away. The transphobes and people who are being difficult or only care about their own feelings all merge into one sort of faceless replacement and the people who care are shown as real people.

The artist and writer is from Spain and this edition is translated but the story is universal and even more important with protests that had actual Nazis at them in Australia recently.

While you are never going to convince the people who have not only closed the door to knowledge, but bricked it up from the other side there is always a chance to sway people sitting on the fence or people who want to find out more about the issue in a safe, non-threatening way.

I would recommend this one if you are interested in learning about transgender issues or know someone who might be going through transition and want to learn more about what people go through and the people who love and support them.
