The Dell G15 Gaming Laptop (5220) is a midrange gaming laptop that is quite affordably priced from $2309AUD (May 2022) and is powered by the 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-12700H, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB of DDR5 memory plus a 512GB NVMe drive which makes it ideal for 1080p gaming.
Complementing its components is its sleek design and while it doesn’t have the gamer aesthetics per se, it definitely has a design that won’t look outdated as some of the gaming laptops are a little gaudy. However it has backlit keys, with powerful speakers for booming audio and measures at 26.90mm x 357.30mm x 272.11mm with a weight of around 2 1/2 kilos, depending on what model you choose.
While the Dell G15 Gaming Laptop (5520) is a perfectly designed laptop, the only downside of the initial purchase is the size of the NVMe at 500GB (more so 405GB), considering that game such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla require 34GB and 70GB for Cyberpunk 2077. This limits the amount of games you can store on the drive, so an upgrade, addition or external drive will be required. Nonetheless, it is a good starter for gamers looking to game on the go!

Once setup, we were treated to Windows 11 that was a super fast experience that not only loaded the operating system quite fast, apps and general computer usage was very responsive courtesy of the 12th Generation Intel Core i7-12700H CPU and 16GB of RAM. Our review model also had the NVIDIA GeForce 3070 Ti graphics card that like the operating system was fast and ideal for 1080p gaming. Games such as Red Dead Redemption (92 frames per second), Watchdogs (75 FPS) or Cyberpunk 2077 (70 FPS) were super playable on this gaming laptop. The only addition for gaming you need is a gamepad!

If you’re looking for an affordably priced gaming laptop with excellent 1080p grunt, then look no further as the Dell G15 Gaming Laptop provides excellent gaming on the go. While it is a little on the heavy size (all gaming laptops are), the Dell G15 ticks all the right boxes when it comes to performance. Just be warned that you will need to look into other storage options if you like to play multiple games on the go!
