Norton Save & Restore 2.0

The latest version of one of the world's most definitive backup software packages returns with Norton Save & Restore 2.0 that offers the user a simplistic yet holistic approach at saving their valuable information.

Based on Symantec's Norton Ghost software, Norton Save & Restore 2.0 targets the novice to amateur computer user that makes this process an almost flawless process. Best of all, the program supports a variety of different media, ensuring that the user has a plethora of backup options that suits their computer usage.

The installation of Norton Save & Restore 2.0 was a straight forward process and once the CD was detected by our test machine, the program automatically installed. It should be noted that any previous version of Norton Save & Restore needs to be uninstalled but this again is an easy process.

After a brief installation process, the installation was complete and once the system was returned to the user, we were were greeted to an innovative user interface.

The interface features uses a traditional windows based view, however it has been tweaked for a more slim lined and intuitive interface that no users should have any issues with. Containing a simplistic workplace environment with minimal menu usage, Norton Save & Restore is definitely an easy to use system.

Although the program does contain more advanced features, some of these need to be hunted through the interface, although once you have learned where this is located, the process is minimal.

Features

  • File and folder back up

  • Easy to Use Interface

  • Backs up everything on your computer-digital music, photos, financial documents, applications, settings, operating system

  • Powerful Protection: Recovers your system and data even when you can't restart your operating system

  • Flexible Storage

  • Backs up to almost any media, including CDR/RW and DVD+-R/RW drives, USB and FireWire

  • Fast and Efficient Backup Technology

  • Complete recovery: In the event of a hard drive crash, users can easily recover the entire hard drive image.

Norton Save & Restore 2.0 will give all home users and small office users the ability to backup a variety of data with just a simple click of the mouse thanks to the informative wizards that make this an extremely easy process. For example, one click of the mouse, our hard drive was being automatically saved to our second hard drive.

We also saved a variety of folders such as "My Documents" and "My Photos" onto USB sticks and our trusty DVD burner. The program also supports a variety of older backup options such as Iomega Zip and Jazz drives.

A great aspect of Norton Save & Restore 2.0 is that if a doomsday scenario does occur, provided your hard drive is still working, the program can even restore the system if this has been corrupted.

The program supports incremental backups which only backup the latest changes to your data which means it will save time and user interaction. For instance, if you backed up your "My Photos" folder from May 2008 and then added a variety of new photos into this directory, Norton Save & Restore 2.0 will only add the latest photos to the backup.

Considering the volatile computer environment with a wide gamut of nefarious viruses and worms, this is definitely a must have fail safe system. As users have internet security suites on their computer, a backup software package should also be used in conjunction to ensure that all facets of your data are protected.

In conclusion, Norton Save & Restore 2.0 once again improve upon their previous incarnation and address some of the issues from the original program, making this one of the faster and perhaps most easiest to use backup software packages. An intuitive and easy to use interface, Norton Save & Restore 2.0 is great for all users.
