Joachim Hesse (an Occultist) accidently unleashed a horde of demons onto the plane of Earth. (See v2 Dr. Fate #1 Joachim Hesse planned to have these demons work for him but the demons overpowered his magic and it was Dr. Fate II who came to the rescue. Dr. Fate banished the demons and severely threatened Hesse not to dabble in the black arts again. However, one demon managed to escape and it seeked the powerful sorcerer Dr. Fate. This demon was not like the other demons and when he was summoned to Earth, he knew that Earth was his new home. When the demon finally found Dr. Fate, Dr. Fate tried to destroy the demon, however, with the intervention of Nabu they discovered that demon was harmless and wanted to remain under the care of Dr. Fate and on Earth. Eric and Linda (Dr. Fate II) named the demon Petey and with a little help from Dr. Fate, the demon could shape-change into the form of a dog. Petey became a valuable member of the second Dr. Fate's supporting cast but his current whereabouts are unknown.
Powers: Petey has all the powers of a very minor demon from hell. Petey was given the ability to shape change by Dr. Fate and almost had the ability to speak.
Limitations: Petey is immortal but can be killed by greater demons or by powerful metahumans.
