    HISTORY

Hank and Don Hall were locked in a room at the Headquarters of Dargo, a man who wanted revenge on Judge Hall. All their efforts to escape were futile until they heard the voices of a Lord of Order and Lord of Chaos:

"Power...you wish power? Your wish shall be granted. Whenever injustice strikes you need only speak your names -- "HAWK" and "DOVE"-- and you shall be transformed! Whatever you could do moments ago, now in costume, you can do infinitely better you will become extensions of your inner selves. The transformations will not occur if there is no injustice present, and when your powers are no longer needed, you will revert to your ordinary selves."

So Hawk and Dove went into action for the first time, destroying Dargo's crime syndicate and freeing their father. During the Crisis on the Infinite Earths, the original Dove was killed rescuing children from a falling wall. However the original Dove's powers were stripped from him and given to the new Dove.

Hawk was created by a Lord of Chaos named T'Charr. When Hank Hall became Extant in Zero Hour, Extant destroyed the legendary Justice Society of America by killing three of their members and aging the group to their proper ages. Extant also forces the split of Doctor Fate. Hence Inza & Kent Nelson were blocked from becoming Fate and were also aged to their proper ages. This contradicts the last Doctor Fate ongoing series as the couple were no longer bound by either Chaos or Order. Extant is believed to be outside the timestream in the DCU.

    POWERS

  •   Powers: Hawk was empowered by the Lords of Chaos. To activate the powers of Hawk, Hank must say the word "Hawk" to become Hawk. When Hank Hall transformed into Hawk, his skills were greatly enhanced. Hawk's strength, endurance and resistance to injury was greatly increased and was excellent at combat. Later in the Hawk & Dove ongoing series, the Lord of Chaos gave additional powers to Hawk which made him stronger and bulletproof. Hawk also has enhanced healing and his powers greatly increase if in a realm of chaos.

Not only was he bullet-proof, but he was able to increase his mass (i.e. issue 15 or so of the ongoing series where he cannonballed down on an alien world's castle). He also had extensive knowledge of military weaponry and tactics.

    HISTORY

Dove was created by a Lord of Order named Terataya. Dove II received her powers the instant the original Dove died. Hawk and Dove II were transported to their creators home world, a World were magic was in abundance. Apparently, Dove's creator, a knight, had fallen in love with Hawk's creator, a dragon, and decided to try to work together (it was suggested that at one point the Lords of Order and Chaos were singular entities a long time ago).

It order to prove this, they began the Hawk and Dove experiment, creating Agents that would work together. The Agents powers, Order and Chaos, would only work in times of danger to ensure that they would put aside their difference. Realizing that the two brothers (Hawk I and Dove I) were together because of blood they decided to pick a new Dove one that was female in order that a child of Order and Chaos be formed (Hawk and Dove Armaggedon 2001 Annual). Apparently, the others liked to fight so much at they opposed the Hawk and Dove experiment and in order to disrupt it one of the Lords of Chaos made Kerel (sp), first to fight Hawk and Dove (using a male host) and then using a female host to lure away Hawk from Dove, who was falling for Hawk.

Before Hawk and Dove left their Creators' World, their creators joined with their respective Agents, thus making Hawk and Dove into full Lord of Chaos and Lord of Order (al la Nabu). Hawk and Dove's power were then the same level as Nabu although they were ignored of this. Hawk's and Dove's powers were available always instead of only when their was danger and they were in custom. Hawk outside of custom appears hairy with spikes coming out of his back like his cape was. Dove out of custom had light coming from her eyes.

Armageddon destroyed Hawk and Dove when it was revealed that the future Monarch was Hall himself. When Monarch /killed/ Dove II Hawk got mad and "killed" his future self in a "Chaotic" rage. Vowing not to let the experiment die with Dove, Hall vowed to become "Orderly" and took up the name Monarch. During Armaggedon, Waverider discovered that Dove's spirit had entered Hawk giving him the Power of a Lord of Order in addition to his Lord of Chaos Powers. With both Powers, Hall was able to defeat all the Earth's super-beings and became the Monarch of the World until Waverider and Zero Hour stopped him. Monarch (Hall) was the Leader of the Team Titans against Lord Chaos, Troia's son. Post-Zero Hour Monarch is Natham Adam, Captain Atom, Monarch is the human Adam while Atom is a "Quantum clone" (Extreme Justice #10).

#:Someone said that Dove is still alive somewhere and we, the readership, don't know what happened to post-Zero Hour Monarch. Rumours have indicated that Dove II is a member of the Teen Titans

    POWERS

Dove was supposed to have spatial awareness: knowing the qualities of all objects in an area (weight, location, etc), as well as minor regeneration, slightly higher than normal strength & excellent DEX.

Other powers that Dove possessed was intelligence, intuition, agility and the ability to see future possibilities & detect danger. Later in the Hawk & Dove ongoing series, the Lord of Order that help create Dove gave her the ability fly. Thus a comparison between Hawk & Dove saw Hawk as more tactile while Dove was more strategic.
