    HISTORY

There was once a man called Kent Nelson who possessed the artifacts of Fate. Nelson was the Earth's most powerful sorcerer and considered himself to be a hero. The most powerful artifact of Fate, was the Helm of Nabu that whispered of a past, a world of pure order, dead and still. As the time went on, the mask becomes the face and perhaps it's destiny...

    or fate

As various hosts were used by the Helm of Nabu, eventually it soon became its own entity again. After hundreds of centuries, the helmet became corrupted by its own order. What was once a pure item of order was now tarnished and corrupted, the gold helm had now lost its shine. Science was lost by mankind and magic no longer existed, it was a world ending. The heroes of Earth were no more, the Legion of Super-Heroes were now a distant memory. The only magics that now existed were the artifacts that were left over from a golden age.

The Helm of Nabu was now worshipped by mortal man again. It summoned its followers to don the helmet, so it could once again taste and feel human flesh against its cold metal.

The hosts were untrained and incompatible with the helm. For a brief moment in time, the helm and the host were complete and Nabu received pleasure from the possession. Seconds later, the helm would order the host to remove the helmet, thus killing the host and once again tarnishing the Helm of Nabu. The helm once considered order above all but now it considered it offal and chaos it's garbage. There were just the same thing, the gurgle, ooze, purl and spurt of protoplasm, deluding itself that there is meaning. There was no meaning for the helm but just flesh and death.

Only one man knew that helmet would be corrupted over the centuries, he was known as Mister E.and was disgusted by what the item of order had turned into. He urged the heroes of Earth to band together and destroy Fate, so they could prevent the souring a thousand years hence. The heroes thought he was mad.
