Snakes on a Plane

This is one insane movie! Right from the start you are on the edge of your seat and it just keeps getting more and more insane as it plays out. Now you guys are lucky that I sat through this one as I HATE snakes and I also am not a fan of taking off and landing in a plane, some part of me believes firmly that a huge hunk o’ metal cannot stay up in the air, despite the fact that science and aeronautical engineering has proved me wrong for some time.

Samuel L Jackson stars in this one as the FBI agent who has to protect an important witness for the prosecution against a big time bad guy. Flying him from Hawaii to Los Angeles for the trial, they don’t know that hundreds of snakes have been smuggled onto the plane that have been dosed with a pheromone that makes them attack.

Don’t worry I am sure that I’ve not wrecked anything for you with that, unless you simply did not read the title of the DVD. And even if I have then I would still say that you have to watch this move. It’s a lot of laughs the whole way through and if you are into B grade movies then you will love it. I certainly did, the whole flick really was a no brainer the whole way through, you didn’t have to think too much and got a few really good jumps along the way.

I’d stick to the whole B grade horror premise though some might argue that the presence of Jackson elevates it somewhat above that. I disagree totally. Jackson plays his part with relish and clearly appears to be having a hell of a lot of fun making this flick, as do the rest of the cast.

The movie looks great on DVD, the only argument at times is that the CG snakes are not always convincing, however the fast pace of the movie more than makes up for it. The extras on the disc are plentiful and the blooper reel whilst contrived at times is amusing. The extended deleted scenes come accompanied by some very candid explanations as to why they did not make the final cut.

If you are after a fun escape from reality, then you really need to get this flick. Fast paced with a load of tongue in cheek, it’s a great diversion that will keep you laughing for some time. Also, did I mention, it has snakes?
