MegaMan X: Maverick Hunter

The first Megaman title to hit the PSP, this is a remake of Mega Man X, dubbed Maverick Hunter. One of the things that I was really happy about with these games is that the approach of Capcom in not just dishing out a port of the game.

No way, what we are faced with is some really nice updated gameplay, graphics and anything that makes for a  really good gameplay experience. There has been a lot of effort put into this title and that shows immediately upon starting up your PSP.

The idea  behind the game is simple: have Megaman or X as he is known in this game apprehend as many bad robots as he can in a side scrolling adventure. The look of the game on your PSP is glorious and the entire title shines the whole way through. I think that it’s funny that even with all the advances we make with games and graphics, that a good game is still a good game even after a long period of time. We may find it easier to play than we did, but for the most part, it is still an enjoyable experience.

That’s what I found with Megaman X and I know that gamers are going to have a ball  with this title. But wait, like that man says on the late night ads, there is more!

If you finish the game you are going to unlock some tasty treats that fans of the series are going to love. After fighting your way through all the Reploids (the bad robots), you actually get to play through the game as one! A fiendish robot called Vile that will test your skills on a harder difficulty level as he is not just a skin for the Megaman model but plays entirely differently and will certainly take some getting used to.

Part of the thing about this game is getting used to the retro feel of a side scrolling game. It’s old school but I admit that I really got into it and think that all you guys will as well. The other extra that you are gonna go crazy about is the addition of an anime that goes for about 30 whole minutes! Now that is massive and it tells about all the stuff that happened up to the start of the game. The quality is fantastic and I found myself totally engrossed by it all.

There are times that you can rightly be annoyed when a remake of a title comes out as cannon fodder for a console. This is not one of those times and you are gonna be loving it all the way through, and then again when you just know you will play through as Vile.

Get it and Powered Up now for a great gaming experience.
