ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails

Feel up for a challenge? Then Blazin’ Trails just might be the ticket that you need to keep your pulse pounding as you go offroad in a pretty full on game. For those of you who have not played an ATV title before, basically you are on a four wheeler that goes hell for leather in a variety of gameplay modes that are sure to please all comers.

The game is fairly unforgiving in single player mode so be sure that you take some time in learning how to land your machine as if you don’t, then you might as well say goodbye to any lead you might have had as the computer controlled opponents will just simply race past you without so much as a wave.

There are a massive roster of tricks and stunts that you can do during the game, however the amount of pressure that is put on players just makes you concentrate on finishing the race. The stunts are a heck of fun but it’s pretty hard to get it all together in the one hit.

The visuals in the game are absolute eye candy and you will be very impressed with the appearance of the game. Having been a fan of the series on consoles, I can’t really detect any drop in quality in how good this game looks. All the environments look fantastic and the collision detection in the game has been improved substantially over previous versions of the game.

The handling of the ATVs will be your main focus of the game and the progression through the title unlocks other vehicles, however if you decide to take the game to the next level and go head to head against your mates or online, get ready to lose those cars if you mess up.

The game is rounded out with an awesome soundtrack that is sure to keep your pulse pounding. It’s one of the nice things about the abilities of the PSP, that you can have a fun game that is still rounded out with a proper soundtrack and score.

All in all, I found the whole game to be a lot of fun, both in single player and multiplayer modes. The game is very open to a all sorts of offroad hijinks and plays very well. All that I would have to reiterate is that players need to constantly bear in mind that the game is very unforgiving of mistakes in first person mode, whereas your mates are just as likely as you to mess up...

This is a worthy addition to the ATV Offroad series and a lot of fun for PSP owners, I have no problems recommending this title.
