  • For those who are unaware of this gaming phenomenal, the Singstar series is basically an interactive karaoke experience on the PlayStation that allows players to sing a variety of songs in an attempt to be awarded a number of points of how well they sing the song. To make things even more interesting, players can also sing duets or even sing duets against each other that is probably one of the most popular party games to date and with Sony behind the release, you can guarantee that all the songs are popular hits.

As with all good Singstar games, variety if the spice of life and Sony have compiled a variety of popular songs from today and yesteryear to wet the appetite of all fans of this popular genre. Featuring greats such as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, to more modern starlets such as Gwen Stefani and the Pussycat Dolls. Want more? Add in Mark Ronson, Luther Vandross and Salt 'n' Pepa and you have a truly holistic approach to the R&B genre that I'm sure will cause a few squabbles with purists but in the end, Sony have ensured that the variety allows for a wider playing audience and at the end of the day, extra longevity.

And if you're lover of the more commercial and mainstream R & B than you will be audio heaven with En Vogue, Destiny's Child, Jamelia, Chris Brown and the Black Eyed Peas.

The gameplay of Singstar R & B is almost identical to the previous versions where gamers are scored on how well they match their words or sounds with the music and depending on how close or well you do, you are awarded points to correspond sith your performance.

Needless to say, it's the entertainment experience that makes the Singstar so entertaining and even though the graphics are generally just film clips added with a scoring system, it's probably the best karaoke experience most of us mere mortals will ever experience that makes the series the perfect party game.

Although multiplayer is the best aspect of the series, there is also an entertaining solo experience which I'm sure many gamers from around the world will enjoy, especially if they believe they have quite good vocals which many of us don't.

In conclusion, Sony have once again released another entertaining Singstar title for lovers of the R & B genre. Even though not much has changed since the original title, the star of the series has always been the music and once again the music prevails in this high quality presentation. However with this said, I simply cannot wait for Singstar on the PlayStation 3 that allows for downloadable content... how's that for cool!
