Devil Kings

There is a good chance that you’ve played Dynasty Warriors if you are reading this review. Well I’ve some good news for those of you who just want action exploding out your screen. Devil Kings takes the gorgeous visuals of DW and takes the fantasy element up to the next level, making for an amazingly good looking game that is a heck of a lot of fun to play.

The beautiful thing about this game is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously and is an overblown tale of mammoth proportions. What we have is basically ultra powerful warlords that are bitter enemies and you can choose who you want to be. The combination of magic and modern weapons is really cool and the characters themselves are really freaky which made me like it even more.

As in the Dynasty Warriors series, you have some great rendered cutscenes to move the story along and these are sometimes laugh out loud funny. The aim of the title is to fight your way through the massive hordes in your way and get to the warlords (bosses) at the end of the map that you are currently going through. You equip at the start of a mission and allocate weapons and powers, then get into it.

During the game you will gain experience and these points add to your abilities and can be used to improve many areas of your performance. These include aerial attacks that have to be seen to be believed. The graphics are so sweet that you just want to keep doing special attacks all the way through, it’s just insane.

In the heat of battle you can power up your Fury Gauge that allows you to really get stuck into your enemies, essentially lashing out with a powerful attack that takes out everything around you. Despite the crazy action that takes place on the screen, the frame doesn’t really take a hit at any stage which is awesome.

If you are looking for over the top action with nice graphics and easy to get into action, then this is most definitely for you. Cool stuff!
