Yes, Prime Minister: the Complete Series 1 & 2

Yes, Prime Minister follows the story of Jim Hacker who is now funnily enough the Prime Minister. There is a good chance that you have heard of this series, however if you need to reference it all, just scope out the Yes, Minister series, also available for Roadshow.

Nothing much has changed in this boxed set with the exception that Jim is now the boss and is just as lost as ever, with Sir Humphrey looking for any opportunity to exploit a weakness in his own bid for power.

The irony of Humphrey’s own rise to power is that he is now Cabinet Secretary and in a position to thwart Jim at every turn that he takes. Now although he is finally Prime Minister he is in a position of very little power in terms of getting motions passed etc that makes for some absolutely hilarious moments.

The beauty of this series by masterminds Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn shines all the way through. A superb script coupled with stellar performances by Paul Eddington as the cowering Hacker make this the sort of series that will be just as enjoyable today as it was when it originally aired. The other side to it also is that it’s intelligent comedy and that my friends is something that folks will always enjoy.

I think that the packaging of both series makes the most sense as well for the best enjoyment of the whole storyline too. The packaging looks good and aesthetics aside, you can just sit back and enjoy the whole thing in one immense sitting!

The quality of the audio and video is not too bad considering the age of the series and the overall quality of the show itself is such that the visuals would have to be shocking for you to stop watching.

If you want to start a British comedy collection then look no further than adding this to your list of must have releases. Another BBC DVD classic. Go Get It NOW.
