The British always have a talent for making something different and their latest BBC incarnation Torchwood is no exception to the rule and could almost be considered an adult's version of Doctor Who. This gritty new BBC science fiction series revolves around Torchwood, a covert extra terrestrial and paranormal investigation agency and with its adult content, features course language and sex.

Torchwood Series One Part One features five episodes from the series with the first episode introducing all the characters in the agency. The characters are as strange as they are diverse such as Captain Jack (John Borrowman), a mysterious character who we believe cannot die or the everyman's Gwen and how she juggles her personal life with Torchwood, the writers have really gone into great depths of each character.

The acting may seem a little clichéd and over the top at the start but as the series progresses, the actors soon get a grip on their characters and things go from average to entertaining.

The other episodes revolve around a sex crazed alien and the Ghost Machine which will draw you into this entertaining universe. Even if you have not watched Doctor Who before, Torchwood is definitely something to investigate, especially if you are a science fiction fan.
