Top Gear : Uncovered – The DVD Special

After dominating the globe with revheads, and ultimately, creating entirely new revheads, the Top Gear crew, albeit, minus the other two poms, have put together a DVD special, telling you exactly what you need to do to achieve Top Geardom.

Hosted by Richard ‘Hampster’ Hammond, the DVD special is split into six main sections, covering the attributes needed to become a Top Gear presenter such as ‘How to Make a Top Gear Film in Your Home’, ‘Engineering Excellence’, and ‘Top Gear Passion’. Follow these instructions and you have every chance of becoming the next superstar of Top Gear, sort of, but not really.

The Special is a ‘mockumentary’ in typical TG style, all is tounge in cheek and the mickey is quiet often taken out of themselves for a bit of a laugh. Each of the six features has its own of the usual TG challenges of sorts, for instance, Engineering Excellence has the hampster converting a old ice cream van into a hover craft, or the Top Gear – Public Service Announcement featuring Ford Focus sedans ploughing through Brick Walls to watch the slow motion replays. It’s all classic TG and all a good bit of fun.

The main issue is the fact that the entire film is hosted by Richard Hammond, and as much of a TG fan as you are, sixty three minutes of pure Hammond is a bit much and can leave you wanting a bit more than a Farah Fawcett flick and teeth whitener. The good point is that this isn’t another repackaged special full of all the bits you’ve already seen from the TV series, this is all completely new, so if you are, or know someone who is a TG fan, this is the perfect DVD for them.
