The Messengers

The Messengers (2007) is a horror film that revolves around the Solomon family who move to a desolate farm in North Dakota. Unfortunately the peaceful farm life is shattered when 16-year old Jess (Kristen Stewart) and her 3-year old brother Ben begin to see nightmarish apparitions throughout their new home. The darkness that surrounds the Solomon family grows even deeper and it is up to Jess to discover a way to save her family.

The Messengers starts off as a claustrophobic, enigmatic chiller that soon turns into horror movie with CGI ghosts and ghouls and like an X-Files episode, the story starts to go off on a different tangent that had me becoming lost and sometimes a little bored. The premise behind the movie and even the actors were all there, unfortunately what started quite good soon becomes lost in the wave of cliché and unbelievable plot holes that makes this movie a little less than average. Definitely targeting the pre-adult market with it's kid friendly storyline.
