The Machine Girl

This cliché and sometime stereotypical Japanese action movie is directed by Iguchi which centres around a girl named Ami (Minase Yashiro), the carer of her younger brother Yu as both their parents committed suicides in mysterious circumstances.

Unfortunately fate intervenes again and Yu is murdered by Sho, the son of a nefarious Yakuza family who happens to be a descendant of the legendary ninja Hattori Hanzo.

A turning point has been reached for Ami and she begins her investigation of her brother’s death, only to encounter Sho’s father who slices off one of her arms. Escaping this sadistic killer, she takes refuge with her brother’s best friends family who was also murdered because of the relationship between her brother Yu and Takeshi.

Forming a bond with Takeshi’s mother Miki, her husband creates Ami a machine gun arm and it’s time for girl power to start kicking some serious ass as both women take the fight to this deadly Yakuza family.

Reminiscent of movies such as Kill Bill, The Machine Girl is a truly horrific bloodbath that uses black comedy to make light of the situation, especially the great one-liners by Ami as she delivers justice with her machine gun arm.

From start to finish, I was captivated by Ami’s journey as she hunts down the killers of her parents and her brother and of course Takeshi with swords, martial arts and guns, making this a kick ass and sexy action movie.

With some great video and audio quality which sounds tremendous through Dolby Digital 5.1, the movie contains some "light" special features from the making of to the original trailer. Definitely one for fans of this genre!
