The Last Legion

The Last Legion returns the viewer to those classic sword & sorcerery epics such as Conan the Barbarian and Excalibur which take places at the end of the Roman empire and before the birth of King Arthur.

Directed by Doug Lefler who successfully rejuvenates the genre, The Last Legion is heavily focused on action, adventure and a touch of romance as Colin Firth (Bridget Jones Diary) plays a valiant warrior who is joined by a mystery wizard who have been given the task of saving the heir to the crumbling Roman empire.

Lefler's directing of The Last Legion does a good job at bringing forth mythology, myth and history as the birth of Excalibur is revealed and match that with some "over the top" and entertaining acting performances from Ben Kingsley and Aishwarya Rai, it's almost like watching those sword & sorcery epics from the 1980's such as the Beast Master which make this film so enjoyable.

Great video and audio quality with some interesting special features rounds this movie as a pop culture classic!
