The Best of She-Ra Princess of Power

For the honour of Grayskull, SHE-RA has the power!

A cartoon favourite from my childhood has finally sliced its way onto DVD, thanks to the AV Channel that puts together a collection of She-Ra: Princess of Power episodes and one full-length theatrical feature onto one entertaining and affordable collection.

For those that are unaware of She-Ra Princess of Power, the series follows our lovely heroine Princess Adora that when she raises her mighty sword and evokes the words "For the honor of Grayskull, SHE-RA has the power!", she is magically transformed into the fantasy powered super hero She-Ra who battles the mighty forces of evil.

Originally She-Ra was a spin-off from the He-Man series, however the popularity of the heroine soon grew to epic proportions, probably because this was the only "sexy" female hero on TV for young males, besides Josie and the Pussycats and to make this collection even better, it also features the first full-length or crossover movie entitled "The Secret of the Sword" that links both these universes together. Although both these characters were on their own "planets", Princess Adora was the twin-sister of Prince Adam whose alter ego was He-Man.

This 1980's collection also contains the following fan selected episodes that include "Of Shadows and Skulls", "Sweet Bee's Home", "Horde Prime Takes a Holiday", "The Stone in the Sword" and "The Price of Freedom" that make for some great viewing.

The series contained extremely cheesy and clichéd storylines, that classic 1980's animation that made He-Man look like B&W and that famous She-Ra theme song that makes this title a must have for all collectors.

The video and audio quality feature that classic "retro" look and feel from the 1980's with that "pale" and sometimes "limited" colour palette and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo. However, even of the televisions of today (LCD/plasma), the quality is still acceptable and is a true blast to the past. The DVD is also packed with a variety of special features that also adds to value of this impressive collection.

Special Features:

  • Slipcase Packaging

  • Brand new documentary revealing the variety of talent involved in the making
of the original animated series, including the creators, producers, writers,
voice-over actors, animators, and others working behind the scenes - approx.

  • "Secret of the Sword" feature-length audio commentary with Lou Scheimer, Larry DiTillio, Gwen Wetzler & Alan Oppenheimer

  • "I Have The Power" music video featurette - new storyboard comparison, new
    sheet music sing-a-long
