Rescue Dawn

Rescue Dawn is the heroic true struggle of a pilot shot down during the Vietnam war. Based on real events and the documentary "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" by Werner Herzog, Rescue Dawn stars Christian Bale as German born U.S. Navy Pilot Dieter Dengler who crashed in Laos during this heinous war.

Captured by the Vietcong, Dengler never gave up the struggle of returning home and vowed to escape his tormented captors. In an almost hell-like POW camp, this pilot never lost his spirit and planned one of the most daring and dangerous escape attempts.

Bale is great at Dieter Dengler who truly transforms into this character and almost looks like a totally different man by the end of the film. Near the end, Dengler starts to become delirious and this is evident in Bale's acting.

Masterfully directed by Herzog, with strong performances by Steve Zhan, Jeremy Davies and Galen Yuen, Rescue Dawn is the tale of one man's inspiration.
