Redacted

Redacted is a gripping war movie from the mind of De Palma which is set in worn torn Iraq and follows a group of American soldiers. What sets Redacted apart from its competitors is the central tale behind Redacted which revolves around the individuals, whether it's Specialist Flake (Patrick Caroll) view on the natives who is posted on the Samarra border or Private Angel Sally Salazar (Izzy Diaz) and her devastating experience in this ruined land.

Using media elements of the real-world, De Palma creates a fascinating insight the "justifications" of the government and how individuals interpret their role, not only within the military but society itself.

De Palma distances himself as far as possible from the America united "vision" and creates a disturbing yet questioning look into this war that many believe was unjustified. Apart from the gripping tale based on real-world events, the refugee interviews are quite sad and shows a darker shadow of the world we know.

Brilliant!
