Fight Quest Round Two

In the second series of Fight Quest, our hosts Jimmy Smith and Doug Anderson, once again take us around the world as they learn various fighting techniques from masters of their sports and then apply them in a final battle to show what they have learned.

I love this series and couldn't stop watching. The great thing about Fight Quest is that it doesn't really cater for meat heads and shows a real respect for the fighters and the styles that they represent. Training is brutal and both Jimmy and Doug seem to be injured a lot more than in Round One. It makes for some tense viewing as both of them are genuinely likeable and despite the fact that there is no animosity with the people they are fighting, you do genuinely want them to win and not be hurt.

Round 2 in my opinion ups the ante in terms of more brutal fighting styles, which does see the boys hurt more. They have five days to learn a style then face off in a final match. The countries that they visit this series are Brazil, Israel, USA, Thailand, India and Hong Kong.

One of the most confronting styles that happened during this season would have had to had been when the guys went to Israel to study Krav Maga. The training was utterly brutal and the guys were pretty much smashed around both both their trainers and other students with hands, feet and even machine guns! One of the moments that stood out for me was when Doug declared without joking that he honestly thought his female instructor was insane.

This is a brilliant series and I am truly sad that this appears to have been the last season of it. I do hope that it's still in production somehow so that we can travel the world with these amazing guys and learn more about different cultures and their fighting styles.

Put simply, this is a must own collection.
