Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman is the latest series of movies by Tyler Perry who also happens to star in this offbeat Comedy/Romance & Drama film which focuses on the relationship between Helen and Charles McCarter who are unhappily married for 18 years. To compound the situation, on their 18th wedding anniversary, Charles evicts his wife and moves his mistress and children in the on the same day.

As Helen's anger builds throughout the movie, she finally confronts her husband in predictable circumstances that almost makes you think you are watching Days of Our Lives with a touch of Big Mamma. Although the acting is quite impressive, the script of the movie fails to hit the target with its Christian and moralistic undertones.

To break up the drama of the movie, Tyler Perry's Madea who just happens to be a man playing Helen's grandmother throws in a few gems of laughter here and there but unfortunately the two genres don't quite mix. Definitely a telemovie!
