Collector's Time Warp

Interesting enough, humans are not the only beings on Earth that collect and even some animals collect. Whether it's ingrained in our psyche or some other metaphysical level, most of us collect something. Our friends at the ABC have released a clever series called "Collectors" that has been screening on TV and this DVD contains some of the most interesting items that people collect, however it's theme is "time" which means items from pasts gone. The collectible "objects" have been classified for the following areas;

  • HARD TIMES Vintage Luggage, Rural Rust, Hat Paraphernalia, Armaments, Gramophones, Gallipoli.

  • CHANGING TIMES Sydney Harbour Bridge Memorabilia, Pop-Up Books, Old Plastic, Tractors, Deco Nubians, Barber Collection, Vintage Outfits, Ties, Art Deco Radios.

  • MODERN TIMES 50s Passion, Atomic Collection, Industrial Design, Mixmasters, 50s Caravan, Aprons, Typewriters, Vietnam War.

  • GOOD TIMES 60s Fashion, 50s-70s Pop Culture, Pinball Machines, Microphones, Surfboards, Tin Toys, 70s Collector.

Apart from highlighting the objects that people, this series is more about a documentary of why people collect and revolves around the people themselves with the objects as secondary aspects.  The series is extremely quite informative and this DVD highlights some of the best, such as the world of Pinball machines which are highly sort enough around the world, or whether it's a person's passion for 50's clothes, there are no limits or boundaries to what you can collect. It's also cool to see some of the objects from yesteryear such as the classic tin toys or the classic 50's style of caravan.

At the end, this collect highlights some wonderful and strange items that people collect, from Sydney Harbor Bridge Memorabilia, Typewriters and even luggage, proving that one's man junk is another man's treasure. Interesting from start to finish!
