Asterix - the twelve tasks of Asterix

Twelve mighty tasks to prove the Gauls are gods or mortals!

This 1976 French animated movie stars one of the world’s most popular non-Western characters, the tiny Asterix and his robust friend Obelisk. Set during the era of the Roman Empire, there was one village in Gaul that was unable to be conquered by the Romans thanks to a magic potion that gave their towns hero Asterix, the ability of super strength which was used to repel the invaders.

His friend Obelix, unlike Astrix who is reliant on the potion accidentally fell into the potion while he was a child and as adults, they make formidable opponents. In this popular story, Caesar gives this village a repute if they can finish 12 impossible tasks with one prize even being that of the Roman Empire… if they fail, they will all become slaves...forever!

Loosely based on the original Children’s book, Asterix features a healthy dose of humour and excitement that children of all ages will enjoy and by competing against a variety of powerful competitors, the very fate of Gaul is up to Asterix and Obelisk. This must be seen to be believed!

What makes this series so entertaining is the relationship between the tiny Asterix and the giant Obelisk who really bounce off each other in this entertaining tale. Although some of the tasks are quite over the top that they must compete, it is quite entertaining to watch this duo solve them and the twist at the end is priceless.

A classic!
