Assy McGee the Complete Series DVD Review The critical response was largely mixed, with viewers and reviewers alike largely bemused by the show’s singular premise and penchant for ruthlessly sending up conventions of contemporary crime drama by means of an alcoholic, gun-toting anus, but those willing to be immersed in the tomfoolery will find that Assy certainly doesn’t stink.

Assy McGee the Complete Series

Assy McGee isn’t your typical police officer.  He fires his gun indiscriminately, has little regard for both human life and standard law enforcement procedure and, perhaps most noticeably of all, is a giant pair of walking buttocks.  His partner Don Sanchez, based rather randomly on underrated Puerto Rican actor Luis Gutzman, has been shot several times in the line of duty, usually by Assy.

Together the pair meander through the fictionalised realm of Exeter, New Hampshire, solving crimes, just as frequently causing them, and courting disaster due to Assy’s continual penchant for murder and mayhem.

The Complete Spread contains all 20 episodes from Seasons 1 and 2, after which time the show was cancelled.  Due to the program’s wilfully idiosyncratic nature it struggled to maintain respectable levels of both advertising and viewership, but is another fine example of Adult Swim absurdity that will appeal to fans of previous AS outings such as Frisky Dingo and 12 Oz. Mouse
