FIGHTING THE RED BARON<\/a><\/h3>\n

At the outset of WWI the airplane was seen as having little use other than to act as a spotter plane for the cavalry and artillery. But within 6 months a group of pilots transformed the role of the airplane into a deadly killing machine that changed the nature of warfare forever. This is the story of those 6 months, centering around Bloody April, during which the average life expectancy of a pilot was reduced to just 3 weeks.<\/p>\n

In FIGHTING THE RED BARON<\/a> modern-day, elite Red Arrow pilots fly original WWI aircraft and carry out the challenges the plane took on in WWI, including photo reconnaissance, artillery ranging and bombing missions – all leading to a final classic dogfight in replica period aircraft kitted out with camera guns.<\/p>\n
