Apple today released the following statement:<\/p>\n
Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads in the US during\u00a0
\nits first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely\u00a0
\ncontinue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more\u00a0
\npeople see and touch an iPad\u2122. We have also taken a large number of\u00a0
\npre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.<\/p>\n
Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the\u00a0
\ndifficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one\u00a0
\nmonth, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing\u00a0
\nand begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, 10 May. We know that\u00a0
\nmany international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be\u00a0
\ndisappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn\u00a0
